Fall Into Fashion This Season

By Sylvianna Lucero / Fashion Columnist

Ahh October. With a month into classes, the temperature is dropping, leaves are changing colors and the pumpkin spice latte is officially back! So now that it is officially fall, the “January of Fashion” for us fashionistas is here. Time to put away the shorts and flip-flops and break out the flannels and scarves!

Personally for me, this season I’m thinking black with more black and maybe a touch of black for my fall wardrobe. All black is totally common and totally chic, but maybe we should add a little color? Some of my favorite color trends for this fall are burgundy, navy, camel, neutrals and tangerine. A nice pop of color is nice for any solid outfit. Plus darker colors and neutrals are easy to mix and match together.

Great color options for your wardrobe.

With fall being the “January of Fashion,” it resets, reboots and changes what the next year of trends and styles will hold. As expected, the major fashion forecast of the year for the industry is on the catwalk of New York and Milan; but for us it should be the rebooting of your closet. This fall I plan on narrowing my wadrobe on top pieces, styles and must haves for everyday wear.

Some of the must-haves this fall.

So what are some of the must haves for this fall?

  • Denim, denim and more denim.
  • Chunky sweaters in the colors I mentioned previously.
  • Scarves perfect any outfit.
  • Booties look great with jeans, skirts and tights.
  • And you can’t forget the all white converse that are totally in for the moment, chic and comfy.

A great way to pair some of the key items in your wardrobe. Burgundy pants, cream neutral sweater, with blank booties and a military jacket! Perfect for a day at school, date night, or day at the pumpkin patch.

There are many ways to style up your wardrobe this season without breaking the bank. After all, we are all college students here. So here are a few places that offer discounts to students to help us stay chic on a budget.

  • J. Crew 15%
  • Ann Taylor 20%
  • Banana Republic 15%
  • Steve Madden 10%
  • H&M 10% (Sometimes)
  • ASOS 10%
  • Charlotte Russe 10%
  • Club Monaco 10%
  • The Limited 15%
  • Target 10% (Online Only)

Many of the items I’ve talked about you can find anywhere, from Target, H&M, Gap or any local boutique. Have an amazing week of classes and make sure to stay chic. Most importantly, no outfit is chic without self-love. Loving yourself is the key to rocking any outfit. You wear the clothes, don’t let the clothes wear you.
