TWLOHA Set to Host Poetry Slam Featuring Author Sierra Demulder

To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) at Raritan Valley Community College will host a poetry slam and a poetry workshop featuring two-time National Poetry Slam Champion Sierra Demulder on Tuesday March 17 in the college’s Atrium Lounge.

Demulder will instruct the poetry workshop 12-3 pm. The poetry slam will feature Demulder as a performer and will take place 6-8:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public, but TWLOHA is asking for a bag of clothing donations. Light refreshments will be served.

Christine Hatfield, President of TWLOHA at RVCC, said she got the idea for the event after attending the TWLOHA UChapters Summer Conference last summer. “A lot of other chapters talked about how great it was to have poetry slams at their colleges and I thought it would fit at RVCC. I also heard Sierra perform there and she was phenomenal.”

Hatfield said the event will be “a fun, relaxing environment to make friends and listen to great poetry.” She said TWLOHA hopes to spread its mission statement there: "A movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. Twloha exist to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly in treatment and recovery."
