The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg will present the international folk group The Jammin’ Divas, Thursday, May 28, at noon and 7 p.m. The presentation is the final segment in this year’s Club28 series.
The Jammin’ Divas features artists Liz Simmons and Nicole Zuraitis of the US, Kath Buckell of Australia, and flutist Hadar Noiberg of Israel, joined by Craig Akin from the US on bass. The artists blend stunning renditions of traditional and contemporary original folk music with elements of improvisation from each of their cultures. Through stunning, three-part harmonies set against the plush melodic landscape of the flute and double bass, The Jammin' Divas draw their audiences into an experience that transcends three continents’ history. Their performances include sharing songs and stories of how these countries culturally influence and enrich one another.
The Providence Phoenix has called The Jammin’ Divas an “international supergroup.... Their harmonies are divine, and the songs contain enticing elements from the various cultural backgrounds...”
The RVCC performances feature general admissions seating. Tickets cost $10 for the noon performance and $25 for the 7 p.m. show.
